Our commitment

ZenSleepZone is an independent sleep education platform. We are not a medical publication, but we hold our content to a consistent standard of accuracy, transparency, and honest sourcing. This page describes exactly how we work.

Who We Are & Why This Page Exists

ZenSleepZone is an independent digital platform dedicated to sleep education. Our content is produced by researchers and specialist writers — not licensed physicians — and we believe visitors deserve to know exactly how our articles are created, what sources we rely on, and how we handle errors.

This Editorial Policy is linked from every article footer so readers can always find it. It is also a living document: if our processes improve, this page is updated to reflect that.

Our Editorial Principles

📚 Evidence First

Every factual claim must be traceable to a published study, institution, or recognised clinical guideline. Opinion is labelled as opinion.

🔍 Source Transparency

We cite our sources. Where we reference research, we link to the original publication or an authoritative summary wherever possible.

🚫 No Medical Advice

We explain what science says — we do not diagnose, prescribe, or replace professional care. This line is never blurred.

💰 Commercial Transparency

Affiliate links and sponsored placements are always disclosed. Revenue relationships never dictate content conclusions.

🔄 Regular Updates

Sleep science evolves. We review high-traffic articles annually and update them when new evidence changes the picture.

✅ Corrections Welcome

When we make mistakes, we correct them clearly and acknowledge the change. Readers can report errors at any time.

Our Research & Writing Process

Every article on ZenSleepZone follows a consistent workflow before it is published:

Topic Identification & Scope

We identify topics based on genuine reader questions, keyword research, and gaps in clearly explained sleep information. We scope each article to a specific, answerable question.

Primary Source Research

The writer consults peer-reviewed literature and authoritative institutional sources before drafting. See our Approved Source Tiers below.

Drafting with Inline Citations

The draft is written with claims tied directly to sources. Speculative or anecdotal content is flagged as such in the text.

Editorial Review

A second team member reviews the draft for accuracy, tone, and whether the medical disclaimer framing is appropriate. Factual claims that cannot be sourced are either re-researched or removed.

Publication with Metadata

The article is published with a visible “last updated” date, author byline, and medical disclaimer. The date is updated any time substantive content changes are made.

Approved Source Tiers

We categorise our sources by reliability. Tier 1 sources carry more weight; Tier 3 sources are used only as context or to reflect popular understanding, never as sole evidence for a health claim.

🏆 Tier 1 — Primary Research

Peer-reviewed studies on PubMed, NIH databases, and journals such as SLEEP, Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine, and Nature.

🥈 Tier 2 — Institutional Guidelines

American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), National Sleep Foundation, Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, CDC, NHS, and WHO publications.

🥉 Tier 3 — Contextual Sources

Reputable health journalism (WebMD, Healthline, Verywell Health) used only to contextualise or clarify — never as a substitute for primary evidence.

PubMed / NIH AASM National Sleep Foundation Mayo Clinic Cleveland Clinic CDC NHS (UK) WHO

What We Do Not Do

  • We do not publish paid positive product reviews without clear disclosure.
  • We do not make diagnostic claims about medical conditions.
  • We do not use AI-generated content without human editorial review and factual verification.
  • We do not present anecdotes or personal testimonials as clinical evidence.
  • We do not suppress or alter content to favour advertisers.

Affiliate & Advertising Disclosure

Some articles on ZenSleepZone contain affiliate links to products we discuss. If you make a purchase through one of these links, we may receive a small commission at no additional cost to you. This income supports the running of the site.

⚠️
Our policy

Affiliate relationships never determine which products we recommend or how we rate them. A product with no affiliate link is assessed identically to one that has one. We do not accept payment for positive coverage.

Content Update & Review Schedule

Content Type Review Frequency Trigger for Earlier Update
High-traffic evergreen articles Annually New major study contradicts content
Disorder / clinical content Every 12–18 months Guideline change by AASM or NHS
Product recommendations Every 6 months Product discontinued or major recall
Policy / legal pages As needed Regulatory change

🔧 Correction & Feedback Policy

We take accuracy seriously. If you find an error — factual, typographical, or sourcing — please contact us and we will investigate and correct it promptly.

  • How to report: Email admin@zensleepzone.com with “Correction” in the subject line, the article URL, and a description of the issue.
  • What we do: We review within 5 business days. If a correction is warranted, we update the article and note the change at the bottom of the page.
  • Transparency: We do not silently delete or rewrite content to obscure past errors. Significant changes are noted with the date.

Our Relationship with Medical Expertise

ZenSleepZone is an independent editorial platform, not a clinical publication. Our writers and researchers are not licensed physicians or registered sleep therapists. We believe this transparency is more trustworthy than vague claims of “medical review.”

What we do: every article that touches clinical territory — sleep disorders, medication, diagnosis, or treatment — is written with primary reference to guidelines published by the AASM, NHS, and equivalent bodies. We then apply a clear disclaimer directing readers to seek professional care for anything clinical.

We are actively working toward establishing a formal medical review partnership. When that is in place, this page will be updated to reflect it, along with reviewer credentials and the scope of their involvement.

👩‍⚕️
Medical disclaimer — on every clinical article

All articles covering sleep disorders, symptoms, or treatments include the following notice: “This content is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider.”
